SCANNER FACILITY AT PORT QASIM


A scanner, TC-Scan RMG-2004 was installed at Port Muhammad Bin Qasim Karachi for the scanning of export and import cargo by NLC. The user manual describes the scanning machine to be:-

“The TC-SCAN container inspection system is hi-tech equipment based on digital imaging technology of radiation, with the integration of nuclear detection technology, computer and information processing technology, automatic control technology and electronics & mechanical technology. It is designed to conduct non-destructive detection of target objects inside containers, suitable for rapid and real-time inspection of standard containers of all sizes and also suitable for inspection of trucks and train carriage. It could be used at customs of boundary, seaports, and airport and railway stations as well as in development zones, bonded zones or traffic hubs. It is a strong weapon against smuggling, and an important means of anti-terrorism and ensuring the safety of transportation.”

  • Iron & Steel shredded scrap
  • Chick peas
  • Garlic
  • Ginger
  • Pulses
  • Sugar
  • Raw Cotton
  • Wood Pulp
  • PMC
  • Fresh Meat/ Fish
  • Tea
  • Computer Parts

Scanner facility is also extended to the goods imported by following Organizations/ Importers;

  • CKD Vehicles imported by recognized local assemblers
  • Pakistan Railways
  • Pakistan International Airlines
  • Pakistan Steel Mills
  • Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC)
  • Karachi Port Trust
  • Qasim International Container Terminal (QICT)
  • Relief Goods imported by Government Agencies, and; Relief Goods imported
